It’s a great interactive toy. My daughter dropped it a few times and it held up well. Still works on the same batteries which were pre-installed from amazon.

We got this as a gift this Christmas and my 5 year old (huge animal fan) loves this toy. It’s not the sort of stuffed animal she can snuggle up with in bed, but the sounds it makes are also not as super annoying as a lot of the talky-type animals we’ve seen on the market. We have several others – the purring cats and baby puppies (not the yapping dogs – these not-as-noisy but still makes sound tend to be labeled as “newborn”) being our other favorite in the non-annoying category.
Also a huge plus and unlike some of the other brands of animatronic animal toys – it wont randomly start hollering when left in another room and someone or a pet walks by, so no middle-of-the-night startling noises and no drained batteries from forgetting to turn it off. (Actually, I’m not sure these even have on/off switches, but they it isn’t really an issue because of the way they are designed)
Be prepared, however, for a long and frustrating battle with the packaging when this toy arrives. Twenty minutes, a bit of swearing, and eventually rage that lead to pulling out some wire cutters to remove the knotted mess of twist ties they put on this poor beast to keep him standing in his box. There were TWO wire-ties PER FOOT. Honestly, I miss the days when Amazon had a better selection with their “Frustration Free” packaging options. (Hint to the toy makers: IF YOU MAKE IT, THERE WILL BE BUYERS OUT THERE LOOKING FOR IT!)
For a world-conscious toy with their big deal about their donations to kids in Africa, these guys sure went and created a lot of landfill with the packaging on this toy.
Also, we couldn’t figure out how to make the bracelet…well…a bracelet – it appears to just be a strip of cloth with knots on both ends. Eventually we knotted the two ends together but as a “bracelet” it doesn’t accomplish much because it’s not clear how to get the thing on so it will likely end up “garbage” as well. Almost seems a waste of resources to even include it if it’s not actually done in a way that a kid would want to wear it, regardless of what cool cause it may be representing.

My daughter loves elephants so I purchased the toy at Target two weeks ago when it was on sale for $35. My daughter is 7 so I was not sure how she would like the toy but it exceeded my expectations. This is a durable toy that is totally interactive. The baby elephant responds when you rub her back or underneath her chin. She gives kisses and her tail can curl under your finger. This is a really sweet toy but the best part is that 50% of the proceeds of the sales go to fund the Zambi Africa project. Hasbro has set up a fund to help the children orphaned by AIDS living in Zambia.
My daughter loves the elephant–I highly recommend this toy.

The Zambi is a funny and wonderful toy! It actually giggles when you tickle it under the chin – plus, plus, plus, Hasbro is donating 50% of the profit to fund work in Africa for widows and orphans living with HIV/AIDS. What a great gift!

cute alternative to the stuffed animal. my daughter likes it. It does make mechanical like sounds and is kinda hard, but I have purchased Furreal friends in the past and knew this when i bought it. Cute elephant. She has fun with it.
